Clio bonnet with the front section between the lights chopped off a couple of inches to allow more air to the rad ?

The APD rad is lower than the bottom of the bonnet..? Don't think it would improve airflow and temps removing material.

Thinking more for ITB airflow plus putting an oil cooler above the rad.....

i would chop a couple more inches off that ^^

also i reckon much decent gains would be had if you repositioned the
number plate and get holes through the bumper where it sits now .

behind the number plate is the chassis rail no direct air flow here.

it will be if you drill through it

Thanks for the pic northy, that was my thinking and may still do it as i have removed the grill now. Will get a bigger rad and if that doesnt work then i will get the hack saw out.

That pic was of my first rally in the pink car over 2 years ago, dont think theres any bits the same now.....

Bigger rad - do tell..... :D
Thicker? Wider?

What about holes in the bonnet?

Suits your car Michael.

I also have been considering the issue of airflow to the ITB's. I think the bonnet does a lot to stifle the cold air to trumpets. the problems are:

Do you really want to rip up a bonnet (certainly in my case with a Willy1)?
Will it take advantage of the extra airflow?
What happens if it rains/gets mucky etc?
Extra unwanted attention from certain people as a road car...

Mmm

Bigger rad would just have to be thicker, twin core type.

When on stage temp are high and need to have the blower on to help manage it. Not good on a hot day..!!

Rad is far too small for me as i run a Mocal Water/oil cooler so more load on the water cooling system. Dont know if going to an air oil cooler would bring down the temps of both but doesnt seem anywhere to put it withouth blocking the rad......

The APD rad is an 40 quid audi 80 rad by the look of it so im sure there is something better off the shelf (twin core).......

hack out the section in the lower bumper as well, between numberplate and splitter, not much material to remove but every little helps and thats directly over a large expanse of the rad.

I shall be hacking a fat chunk out my bonnet, cant beat some direct cold air to the trumpets tbh.

Airbox would be the best bet....

I would have thought that a water oil cooler will definitely increase your coolant temps.

It does but was fine with the old rad but with the shortened rad it not enough.

Need the twin care one i think.
