i was waiting at highcliffe traffic lights today and my engine just cut out. when i tried to re-start it fired once but then carried on trying to turn over. it did this again but after just tried to turn over and started to kill my battery.

I have checked the HT leads and the distributor cap and to be honest the i need a new one and rotor arm, but there is still no spark comming from the spark plugs.

anyone have any ideas?

thanks tom.

Check the crank sensor.

ok, the mighty haynes manual also said about the flywheel sensor.

i think the crank sensor tells it when to spark

Firing sequence I believe, could be that.

i've renewed the distributor car and rotor arm but still no spark. would the crank sensor stop a spark?

Check if there's spark coming from your ignition coil. If there's no spark it's probably CPS (crank position sensor - or flywheel sensor as you call it).

Try to fit a spark plug into cable that usually goes to dizzy cap. And then put it somewhere near metal (or any other grounded object).
