Apart from the factory fitted effort has anyone made their own design,hints on keeping the motor from frying,got through 2 in 5mths on the old hybrid and that was with one fittted,all be it very tatty?

The original one should be as good as you can get as long as its fitted right.

obviously i've got one fitted, but then i run a 172 engine lol

Ive got 1.5mm thick ptfe sheet in work and was thinking of fabricating a cover somehow

just heat wrap it with same stuff u use for manifold

From what i remember when i removed one, it clips between the main starter body, and the solenoid housing.

YOu cant do that on a williams motor because the solenoid position is diffferent so the shield wouldnt click in properly.

thats wot iv done with my williams 2 an my starters off a 1.2 lasted for 6 months so far :)

mines a m1rk 2 1.2 starter, turboed car and no heat wrap or sheild..........still going strong altho sometime i have to hold the key open for a bit before it tries! :lol:
