The original one should be as good as you can get as long as its fitted right.
has anyone tried to fit a 172 one?
obviously i've got one fitted, but then i run a 172 engine lol
Ive got 1.5mm thick ptfe sheet in work and was thinking of fabricating a cover somehow
just heat wrap it with same stuff u use for manifold

From what i remember when i removed one, it clips between the main starter body, and the solenoid housing.
YOu cant do that on a williams motor because the solenoid position is diffferent so the shield wouldnt click in properly.

thats wot iv done with my williams 2 an my starters off a 1.2 lasted for 6 months so far :)

mines a m1rk 2 1.2 starter, turboed car and no heat wrap or sheild..........still going strong altho sometime i have to hold the key open for a bit before it tries!
