As above really, running shell helix 5w40s at the moment. Engine is tappity when warm any oils known for helping on this front.?

Try switching to 10-40 as its slightly thicker and better for summer use. Im just using bog standard Carlube 10-40 from GSF at the moment and its running pretty quiet.

Some people seem to find that the "special" oils like helix, titan and magnatec which contain more additives seem to cause these engines to run slightly rougher and louder.

This is a highly debated subject however.. Standard 10-40 is best imo though.

10W-40 is only thicker when cold - should not affect the tappity sound when warm as the viscosity is the same as the 5W-40 when warm.

Are you sure the tapping is not your injectors?
They can make a hell of a noice.

Not been down the lines of injectors yet, I get shell helicopter free at work so is preferred choice. Will have a gander at them tomorrow
