hi just got one...any pics or guidance on how to fit? im guessing the bolt holes will need drilling? or did the beams come ready to fit the cup parts regardless?

should almost be a straight bolt on

if you have the williams top gearbox strap, it will need trimming.

you may also have to bend away the air pipe bracket on the subframe

no taking the engine off its mounts or anything? just jack up the car and do those aforementioned things?

need to either pop gearbox top mount off and jack engine up or undo subframe and drop that to get the rubber part of the mount in

agreed thats theeasiest way imo

my mechanic mate wants to know if the gearbox mount is reconnected after fitting this or is the new mount enough to hold it? also does the subframe need drilling?

cheers, last questions i promise! ;)

nope, no drilling necessary, theres a hole in the subframe already there for it

and no, its an extra mount, so leave the top one on aswell, it will work without it but not really much point in adding the 4th mount if you take the other one away is there

he also thinks its strange im fitting it, but ive assured him its worthwhile....i hope

sorry for asking but what's the reason for fitting the extra mount??? Does it make that much difference and how??

It reduces engine movement. specifically roll when lifting off in low gear which can damage your gearbox and your exhaust sytstem. It also helps reduce wear on the other engine mounts and refines the gear selection.

Definitely a worthy mod!

also prevents the nearside shaft popping into the box and mashing it up if the top box mount drop bolt snaps which has happened to a few people

Any pics? Or what it would be called if you were to buy from a parts shop?

Surely its less likely to snap your manny if theres less movement though right??

that was the idea, but this thing is tight! Lack of give may cause trouble now. Lol

been running a 4th mount and polybushed dogbone mount on mine with a supersprint manifold for nearly 4 years and never had any issues, and mine started life as a tracktoy so got thrashed all the time!

dont understand how so many ppl snap them etc unless there overtightening the flexi joint etc etc

yeh i fitted it to protect the manifold so thats good to hear...i just worry..last trackday was cut short by my exhaust falling apart. this was due to an old backbox though. i also fitted uprated exhaust mounts! this thing is TIGHT! lol

lol, im still running std reno exh mounts on mine, but with the 4th mount and polybushed dogbone its pretty solid so the combo proberly allows enough movement in the exhaust to stop any real issues,

tbh though they supersprint really could do with a mount like the originals have which bolts to the engine to massively reduce the risk!
