I know valvers go well, but im just curious as to what cars it compares to on the road in 'real world' driving?

mine goes very well but trouble with valvers is you have to keep them in that 4k+ powerband to make it shift

My mates Civic VTi is pretty much the same up to 135, but Ive never had a do when I havnt had this overfeuling problem.

Everybody seems to compare them to VTS and 106 GTi's but i've never had a problem with dealing with them, though mines a fair bit quicker than standard.

Yeah, same here really, Always pulled away when in the higher gears from VTS and GTi's

i always find it accelerates loads better on a cool night...and i mean a noticable difference! on hot days valvers are pants

^^^^^ got that spot on mate, alot of people say its better to keep the standard airbox on with a panel filter, spend some money on breathing mods and they go well

id say the vts's are on a par with valvers tbh. well the std ones lol

i know craggys was a freak......but it would seriously rape a valver, and that was with just filter and de-cat lol.it used to stay with mine and gradually pull past til 130 then id pull it back.............slowly

the civic vtis are around the same too.raced a couple, aastra gsi's are fair game, gtis golfs and pugs..etc

Every vts or gti ive ever raced has been the same or iv just pulled a little bit at like 100 to 120mph(Private road coppers!)

Valver performance is very underated.

Cars ive beaten....

Golf gti mk1 (The fastest gti)

golf gti mk2 (Not so fast)

My mates golf gti turbo( Valver pasted it off the mark but at higher speed it held its ownish...Thats no good though cuz i was already miles in front.

205 gti 1.6 (past it with no problems but not had the pleasure of the 1.9 yet which is probably the same as a valver)

Vts.....win some lose some lol

106gti ^^^^^^^^^^^^^lol

Fiesta rs turbo. Awsome race down a long private dc.Valver pulled on it a tiny bit through 3rd and up to 130mph his bonnet was next to my passanger door.(It was that close but dunno if it was standard or not)

Escort rs turbo...From a standing start to about 90 i pulled 1 1/2 ish car lengths :D

Raced another valver but that was the same for some reason :? lol

LOL I absolutely panned the arse of a Mk2 Golf GTI 16v yesterday it was funny as lol, the owner asked me if it was a Williams after and I had great pleasure in telling him it was only a 1.8 16v same as his, and has less power lol.

Im bored of my valvers performance now...its quick but u tend to get used to it...would be the same with a williams/cossie/whatever

that power bug thing!

Yeh i'm used to mine now. What I do is every month or so (or when I do a gearbox) I drive about for 3 or 4 days in my mums 1998 Clio 1.2 8v, which after driving the Valver gives absolutely no sense of acceleration. When I get back in the Valver its like having the first drive in it all over again.

Yep I got used to the speed of the valver pretty quickly, but i still love it :D

I'd have to agree about them running better in cooler conditions, it's suprising how sometimes it can feel rapid, then the next day fell proper sluggish

Being a sensible driver (ahem), I haven't raced many cars but it's generally one of the quicker cars on the road. eg. when speeding up to 70 on stretches of dual carriageway, other cars get in the way. As opposed to my old Nova which would have to jump out of the way of BMWs and the like.

Having said that, I raced my mates new 106 GTI the other day and it absolutely slaughtered my valver. He caned passed so fast I thought I'd shifted straight from 1st to 3rd!

Has anyone ever timed their Clio valver 0-60mph? The official time is 8.9 secs but I'm sure they're faster than that.

They are faster than that mate. 1993 autocar mag did a test against the fiesta rs1800 and timed the valver at 7.4 to 60 and 127mph top end. Ive used a gtech-pro to time a few 0-60 and my best is 7.1 but on average got 7.4/7.5 and the odd 7.7. With my mate in the car i got 7.9/8.1

The gtech is quite accurate for what it is too. Better than a stop watch

I timed mine at 7.09 seconds (average over 3 runs) with all the interior in and about 1/4 tank of petrol. I usually run it stripped out though which makes a noticeable difference.

Thats the best thing about Valvers, even though most cars might have a bit more power, they need a load more gearchanges.

The number of times i've beaten quick cars because my gears are longer is unbelievable lol.
