I've borrowed Leighanne's Willy 1 project car for a few weeks now and just managed to swap out the rather bad dampers for my spare OE dampers and springs. The ride height has dropped on both sides noticeably. Previously the passenger side was sitting really high...either the wrong spring or totally shot damper (I think the latter).

Come back from a test drive just now and the car, though not perfect, is transformed. It no longer handles like a barge but more like a true Williams :) Great!

I got back in and had a look at the ride heighton both sides, maybe it still needs to settle but the passenger side is still higher (though about 2" lower than before) than the driver side.

I didnt think there was a difference between OE shocks for the front is there, i.e left and right, is there?

Nope, the shocks are not chiral.

Ye ok, didn't think so. Why may it sit higher on left then? Slightly less efficient damper?

Snapped spring?

Snapped spring?

Mat.

nah, springs are fine!

I think I'll just drive it and inspect it in a few days, maybe it will settle...
