Help, took my offside front brake pipe off to check what flares i needed for new pipe and the connectoin to the flex hose was rusted solid. Eventually had to cut pipe above nut and take flex hose off and file nut down to 10mm size, single hex socket and got it apart.

But looking at the bracket it has (or rather did have originally) a splined hole for the flexi hose.
Is this just to help tighten the brake pipe nut or is it to stop the flexi hose from turning and therefore stressing the brake pipe as it may twist back and forth?

My new flexi hose has no splined part just a smooth cylindrical piece about the same size as the splined hole with a hex below slightly bigger than the hole so it wont slip through and presumably the spring clip would hold it up?
Have they sent me the wrong braided hose? supposed to be ren19 1.8 16v ones to fit willy wide track.
any help much appreciated thanks. :?
