Clutch pedal

i changed from a jb3 box to a jc5 box this has a longer clutch arm, so now my clutch pedal has to short travel, has some one had the same problem how to solve?? i only have about 20mm travel and that's not enough.

Wouldn't have thought the longer clutch fork would make any difference to how far the pedal or the clutch fork has to travel for it to work properly.

Do you have 20mm travel on the clutch fork itself? It's only supposed to have to travel between 17 & 21mm to disengage it anyway.

The longer fork doesn't increase or decrease the travel, it only makes it easier to operate (soft pedal conversion) by applying the force to move the clutch further away from the pivot point

16v JB3 and Williams JC5 have the same arm dont they ? thought is was only the 172/182 JC5 that had the longer release arm (Soft pedel)..

i have a 172 jc5 box, the williams wasn't sold here, newer seen one in real life.

with the longer arm and the other fixing for the clutchcable, the end of the arm and fixingpoint come further away from each other,meaning the cable has to travel a greater distance to move the clutch the same lenght, so 20mm in the end of the longer arm isn't as much clutch travel as 20mm on the short one.
think as it as a lever if you have a longer its easier than a shorter but the end of the longer lever will travel a longer distance

You need a 172 release bearing too with the long release arm..

I use a helix paddle clutch to a 172 incl release bearing,in a megane engine but the car is a R5 GTE
