For all those who cant see my thread in projects, here are results of white vinegar and its stripping properties.

Ive heard good things about it so decided to give it a go on small parts I have that are rusted rather than keep going to get them chemically cleaned

Heres how they did look

http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa134/northern_imports/Clio16v_900Plus/padcarrier.jpg

Left them in there for a bout 30mins and thought Id give em a scrub, you can see it working already

Then after a night in the white vingear makeshift bath and some scrubbing with a wire brush. Pad carriers came great but these disc guards are a bit rotten tbh.

Then hammerite in silver.

You need the stiffest wirebrush you cant get though really. And one thats on a handle like a dustpan brush. Thats what I used anyway.

imo , its not worth the hassle plus vinegar is acidic , unless
you rinse & dry perfectly fine the rust will come through .

wire cup attachment on a drill works everytime for me .
than degrease & clean the metal in unleaded fuel ,thinners etc .

Happy with results tbh. Better than spraying over the top of the rust :D

Will be happy if they last another 15 years as they have done from new :o

Yeah that does, but tbh looking at those he really only has surface rust comparing it to the disc guards I have where its really rotten in. Think youd get similar results.

I did read up on it and apparently white has best cleaning properties. But it fooking STINKS!! :D
