I Have been quoted £55 + Vat per wheel to Shot blast, re dress, powder coat in silver and lacquer a set of Williams wheels, from a company called The Wheel Specialists.

The work looks good on the web site and they have several sites around the country, firstly does this sound expensive?, and does anyone have any experience of them?

Not bad, they quoted me about £350 about a year ago without the diamond cut rim, in gold.

Seems like a very reasonable price. Alot cheaper than some places. Its just a case of whether they can get the colour spot on! On some refurbs ive seen the colour isnt right at all. Best colour match ive seen is by Pristine but they are expensive.

The example on the website looks bang on but ive not used them for willy wheels so couldnt say from experience. I have dealt with them before though just with normal alloys and they did a fine job and are very decent to deal with.

I Would be keen to know as well off people who have had williams alloys done by them what the standard is like.

£55+VAT seems a little high for a basic powdercoat to be honest, although it's all about the quality of the work. I'd rather pay that for a good job than £50 all-in for a rubbish one...

Have a look over at www.edition38.com or www.wheel-whores.com. The VW boys are into their wheels big-time, so will have a much better idea of the best places to go to get decent quality refurbs. As the good refrubishers also deal in split rims, they tend to charge less for a basic strip & powdercoat job.

Also, if you can get someone to remove the tyres beforehand, that'll save some cash.

I've not used them myself yet but at that price you can't grumble, just don't expect the best finish in the world.

I think if you're a member on CS you can get some sort of discount. Alot of ppl on CS go there and seem happy with the results.
