Me and my mate in his Rover went for our usual cruise to Pontefract last night. We always have a steady cruise their, fill up with petrol, cruise round abit then have a rally back.

For a 1.4 16v with only a IK & exhaust his car is pretty damn quick, and runs low to mid 16s at York.

Anyway we'd seen this bazzed up 106 go speeding off in the direction of home so we gave it 3 or 4 mins then chased after it. Anyhow on the way we caught up with this Celica so he booted it. My mate was losing ground to it slightly but I was closing up on it really easy. We raced back for quite a while then caught up with the 106 in Ackworth, and he was booting it so I decided to go past them both. I got past them quite easily, which I was quite suprised at, and my mate did the GT4 aswell as he's a good drive so he held 15mph extra into a corner and went round him as the Celica was accelerating again.

It's the first time I've properly tested the handling on the car, and it's bloody excellent. The 106 and Celica had absolutely no chance round the corners, I was going round roundabouts at well over 50mph without a hint of over or understeer. Great lol.

:D Nice one. In the dry a valver/willy has awesome grip. In the wet though, :?

They have too much power for the wet. I don't have to turn to get off roundabouts in the wet lol just boot it and it understeers itself off. Its a problem almost all fwd cars have though.

You fellas wanna get yourselves a Gripper LSD and some Bridgestone Potenza S02 tyres, mine handles almost as good in the wet as it does in the dry with this combination!!

someone in a 1.4 16v rover beat a Celica GT4 :? hmm

He was loosing ground slightly but not a great deal. When he overtook him he had at least 15mph extra going into a nearly 90 degree corner, the GT4 was doing about 30 and he was doing nearly 50 so he cut inside and overtook it.

It should be faster soon though, he's tuning it to about 130bhp so he can keep up with me, should be a laugh until I 2 litre mine.

GT4 would pish on a valver...no contest...i've driven one and they really do shift once the turbo winds up!

and this is coming from a valver owner!

An St205 would beat a valver, but the st185 wouldn't imo, they are shit slow.

what spec is an st205?

Yep, I had a play with an ST205 and he pulled 2/3 car lengths on me from 30-90 odd. So cant see a 1.4 rover staying anywhere near one, lol

ST205 is 0-60 in 5ish, 0-100 in 14ish, so not really anything to get excited about but enough to see of a Willy or Valver standard. The ST185's are shite tho.

It was an old one not the brand new ones.

As I said if you read my post the Celica was pulling away from my mate but my mate passed him by flying round a corner faster and cutting up the inside.
