In a bid to get our first class win and beat these 260bhp sequential box Mk2 Escorts (2nd is first of the losers and is happening a few too many times) we have purchased a new engine for the Rally car. Its a APD built ITB engine approx 240bhp. Plus the new brakes will come in handy too..!!!

Hopefully should be up and running end of next week then off to the rollers.

Absolutely lovely Evo :D I'll have a very similar setup on mine albeit with probably less power as I will be using it on the road and you have no doubt gone a bit more extreme than I will for now. 714 head I see ;) Same as meeeeee!!!!

Hiho hiho, it's off to Stan we go!

I really like that...
I remember that pink car sitting in Yozzas driveway waiting for a loving new owner!

230bhp - that should be a lot of fun!

New engine mounts?

Michael

It's very pink but I wouldn't mind going round a track in it.

I have it was 233bhp with a std willy manifold so will a proper manifold and some decent mapping 240 should be close to the mark (graph looks like a bit of wheelspin at the top end). Unless the rollers you use are miles off...im sure there not.

Just hope it all stays in one piece and its as good as you say it is....

Solid well nylon mounts great for the track etc but not recommended for the road....

Its a very different car from when yozza had it.. :D

Top speed with the current gearbox is 115mph at 7k in 5th so should get there pretty quick, may need power steering soon as no PAS and a plate diff then its a bit of a wrestle...

no wheel spin, most likely noise interference....fuelling is spot on on full load, as can be seen fromt the graph....doubt you'll gain any on ign cos we spent quite a bit of time sorting it.

regardless what dyno figures you pull out or choose to quote, it'll make a very quick car.

Will be interesting to compare results when its all up and running... :D

Looking forward to trying it out.

Quick blast down the road just to get a feel for the thing before the RR session tomorrow. Get back to the workshop and a puddle of oil. After a quick looks like gear box oil and comming from the bellhousing so probably Input shaft seal. New seal ordered, gearbox out tomorrow, sort the problem Thursday and fit back to gther Friday...

Also the clutch wasnt working properly (172 release bearing????) put some nylon bushes in to replace the rubber ones on the cable near the clutch level and it works fine. Although its a proper on off switch like those fancy racing clutches, will take some getting used to.

Cars whos would have them..!
