ok im a williams nut i just love the wee cars :D

anyhow my girlfriend has a vw golf mk3 (2.0 8v) last year i transplanted it with a 2.8 vr6 engine for her, but she has always liked the williams and has often considered buying one,,, ive been trying for some time now to CONVERT her to the williams scene 8)

need your help talking her around to sellin the golf, she just gets too attached to her cars lol

i think ive almost succeeded, she has already started looking at the market for a williams and is seriously considering it..

if you had a choice of a 2.8 vr6 golf or a williams what would you choose????

this is a fun thing i just wanna show her the responces this post gets hehe

so get typing, please help :twisted:

i considered a VW Golf VR6 over the Williams, but plumped for a williams, the exclusivity of the williams was a big draw for me and i've got a preference over smaller, more nimble handling cars!

Performance Car ran a VR6 Golf and Williams (back in the day) at the same time on their fleet. Both got good reviews, but the Williams was the favourite all day long. The issue with the golf was the fact they stuck a big engine in the front, which messed up the handling somewhat, and to be honest the F7R engine is a much more fun rev happy engine than the VR6 unit.

The build quality will be easily better on the Golf, but lets face it, its not a LEGEND like the Clio Williams is it...

Get a looked after example and you are laughing. They wont drop in price any more, I think in about 5 years we will start seeing good original Willies going up in value.

I had a v6 4 motion a for a few months....missed my williams like hell! The ONLY thing i miss out of it was the heated seats :lol:

Yer i love the sound of em....but nobody commented on the golf. Everyone has that glimmer in their eye at the petrol station thinking...oooooive always wanted one of those! People remember them FACT!

I prefer the drive on the williams - I like it raw - she will agree :P

I then sold the golf and bought a williams 1. So i have 2 :wink:

I borrowed a vr6 after a white van man wrote my williams off, it handled like a boat. I was given the opportunity to buy the said boat but rejected it. Bought another williams. No comparison on the smileometer.

If she's a petrolhead, here's another reason:

VR6
174bhp/1.285ton = 135.4 bhp/ton

Williams
150bhp/0.980ton = 153 bhp/ton

The vr6 is a nice motor ...but it weighs in at over a ton an a half, French cars acca renault williams weigh nearly half that which makes them very nimble :wink:
