If I get another 1 it will be for weekends and kept standard in the best condition I can justify. So show car.

If spares were available and I had a good mechanic - mine would still be driven hard like it was meant to be.

Willy 1 mint show car, Willy 2/3 ITB'd track slag.

I reckon theres a limit to how much you can do to a 1 before you really loose its value and meaning.

Even as standard they are sweet on the track. If your goin for the origional look engine mods are acceptable, lowering is controversial but still common. 8)

Personally I think most mods on a willy 1 are acceptable, as long as the bodywork, wheels and interior remain standard (ie no bodykits, big wheels, leopard skin seats etc), it's your car at the end of the day though, do what you want mate... :D

Totally, and everything bar cutting up the shell is reversible, so why not?

You can mod an engine and 'box to bits and lower it to hell...and to return to OE quite easy, it's a days work assuming you have the old parts still.

Personally I keep it looking as OE as possible thus keeping it relatively low-key and more of a surprise when it owns these newer and overweight hot-hatches. Such fun when you see the look on the face of a guy in a brand new piece of chud get blown away by a 17 year old car. The only hints to it being anything else is the lowered stance and muffler at the back poking out.

if it's your name on the v5 then ultimately the decision has to be yours. if your project ends up being the size of mine then, 3 years plus then you'll change direction 2 or 3 times anyway! i'll always keep the car looking as renault intended, on the outside atleast. good luck with the final project though!
