just been on gsf and the price ive been given is £96.50 + a surcharge of £35 but whats that for?????? add vat £23.01 and i get £154.51!!!!!! need one urgently for saturday!!! must be cheaper than that bollox!!!

i think you deduct the surcharge if your exchanging your old one.

10% WC discount don't forget, and yes the surcharge is a deposit till they get your old one back.

Use the contact form, tell them who you are and say normally you get a 10% discount, add anything else you've ordered using order numbers and mention that too, and put in the notes for the alt when you order you have 10% off.

Will fit your car and should be same plugs.

90 amp are the old Williams rating. Renault supply 70amp ones now on exchange for the Willy I believe and Willy uses 90 I think from factiory.

Pretty damn sure mate, have a look about though for other ones at 90 amp. You can cross match many alternators as long as they are the same shape and dont foul the PS pump (some were different as the cars they were made for didnt have PS).

Also, it says it is good for the 1.8 16v so thats good enough. I'd go for 90 or 110 amp in future personally, mine is a 70 amp at mo.

Hi Mate,

I got an alternator for about 110 pound new from alternatotormart.co.uk.

Basesd in manchester. Its the 110 amp one.

They do the 70 amp one for about 70.

Seemed reasoable. Mine works fine. bit squeeky as I need to sort out the tensioner!

Paul, I know I have a spare somewhere if you are stuck. I'm in Paris at the moment but am coming back tonight and can check in the garage before Saturday if a 2nd hand one is any help to you (there is a small chance that I don't have it at the moment as I left a load of stuff in the back of the car when I dropped it off to have the engine fitted)?
