hope this is in the right section, if not sorry

i finally got off my arse 2day and fitted the renault exhaust that came with my willy wen i bought it (thanks bustarhymes) got it all fitted properly but came across 1 problem, i cant suss out how to get the rubbers to fit on the little bend pipe brackets due to the bracket on the car not having a cut out in it to put the rubbers on it. my valver had a different bracket and so did my 1.2 and 1.4.
i'v searched the projects threads and cant find any pics of the offending bracket, so does any 1 hav any ideas?? hope u can understand wat i mean.

i'm glad you can understand it lol. wat sort of rubber hav u used on urs coz i cant see any way of doing it without cutting a small piece out of 1 of the brackets to get the rubber on them.

this is the same rubbers i'm using http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-CLIO-WILLIAMS-2-0REAR-EXHAUST-RUBBERS-PACK-OF-4_W0QQitemZ120511750174QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsP arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item1c0f0f601e

thats the right rubbers.

Slide theround hole over the exhaust hanger, flip the rubber over the exhaust hanger and then lift and fit the hole back around the exhaust hanger.

WD40 or washing up liquid can help

yea but theres no way of sliding the rubber on to the bracket, the bracket is 1 piece with no cut outs init to slide the rubber over it :? i'v never seen a bracket like this on a clio before.

Are you referring to the one on the car itself? If there is no way to slide hole onto the bracket you need to loop the rubber over it, like a mini saddle, then slide the holes down the other bracket.

yea i'm referring to the 1 on the car, theres no cut outs to slide the rubber onto it, and the same goes for the one on the exhaust, theres just no way of sliding the rubbers onto the brackets with out cutting a gap in 1 of them. i'll try and get a pic of the brackets, coz i'v owned a couple of mk1 clios and none of them has had a bracket like this 1. its proper stumped me :?

what make lambda did you buy i know Bosch or NGK seem to be the favourites wonder if its worth trying a spare ISCV thats known to be a good one maybe someone could borrow you one will look see if i have a spare and let you know

Also, you may find the u-bend hook has bent so you may be able to pull it out to allow you to put hook the holes in.

I know what he means, the williams has a complete loop hanger on the car the same as on the U bend, other than cutting a section out of one of them there is no way of fitting it properly.

I know exactly what he means too as I had the same pain!

I haven't got access to a welder so I took mine to an exhaust specialist who cut the closed loop on the exhaust and welded on the hanger that's always missing from the centre section. It was well worth £25.

Simples!

Yup, its this, I took an angle grinder to the exhaust loop. Better that than the one on the car.

Smokey McPot

Cut the exhaust loop, and then bent the hook it made to make it smaller and sit up inside the car. Problem is now that it knocks on the underside.

I dont at the moment. I just finished adjusting it this evening. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow, but wont be able to get under it so it may not work.

I wont have an oppotunity after that until after this weekend coming.

Got It Guys

Tell me, the pipe which is just before the rear box, is 'flattened' somewhat. Is this normal???
I'm not sure as it sort of looks like the pipe has been squashed.

(I'll try and do some pics this eve)

Cheers,

Simon
