iirc 16v is 90 and the williams is 110 amp ?

what happens if you were to fit a 60-70 amp alternator ?

williams/16v are '60/70A'

172s are 110A...

it runs at less load (so may be more efficient? :P) - voltage regulator keeps things in check

I've got a 172 alt on mine and it's fine :)

that explains why my 19 16v has a 60amp alternator on it :P
thanks all .

Think 110's were fitted on some foreign cars that had more electrical equipment fitted than our cars.

as far as i'm aware thats why they are listed...

I was under the impression that the williams needed a 90 amp alternator. This is the one I put on. Works well.
