I have no rear seats , boot or carpet so the only place I can think of placing rear speakers is replacing the tiny ones in the rear around where the parcel shelf would go.

Anyone know what size these speakers are (seem around 3") and if there are any improved replacements available?

Decent front speakers are properly your best bet if you don't want to go cutting holes in parcel shelf for buying one of those "acoustic" parcel shelves.

That depends on the model.
The speakers behind the vents in the dash are the same size as the rear ones on the williams 1 and 2.
On the 16v and Willy 3 the dash speakers are replaced with tweeters due to the presence of speakers in the doors, these are 13cm so not the same as the rears.

Not sure you're right on that one MB. I've got a Willy 3 and the air vent contains 4" paper speakers (look original) in a 4" speaker hole. I wish it did hold tweeters because I've fitted some component mid-range in the doors and am trying to somehow fit the tweeter component in the dash
