Harlow Motorsport was part of The Harlow Group, an engineering company that still exists today.
They won the inaugural championship in 1991 with Steve Waudby who now owns SWR Motorsport, and is responsible for the gearboxes in the current Clio Cup and FRenault, they also ran Adam Simmons in 91 the son of Len Simmons the boss of Harlow Group.

They were a big budget operation and were not shy of spending money and as the development went on it made it difficult for teams like Mark Fish and ourselves to keep up.

In later seasons Harlow started selling engines and gearboxes to anyone and although the engines were only meant to be “blueprinted” you really needed a Harlow motor to keep up, the Harlow motors all have a blue rocker cover.
They were fantastic engines and when mine turned up looking like new after a rebuild with all the plastic bungs in the ports and water intakes like a formula 1 engine, I was like a kid at Christmas. :D

They later went on to run Nigel Albon, one of their Clio Cup drivers, in the BTCC privateers cup in the Renault 19.

I have a feeling Adam Simmons Cup car was Summehs old car. Not 100% sure though. Had an article about it but I gave it to SUmmeh. Think I have a scan of it somewhere.

What team where you running with RB23? Sorry, whats your name?

Mark always said the same as you. Harlow Motorsport always spent the money needed. Keeping up with them in the 1992-93 seasons was tough. Mark was sponsored by them in the Renault 5GT Turbos when they where running a few cars.
They went into porsche's eventually didnt they, among other things. The team has folded now though. Steve Waudby was manning the Sadev stand at the Autosport show.

The markfish.co.uk website will host a load of results sheets when it goes up, so it could be of interest. Its supprising how many cars are left!

We are always looking for the opportunity to get to touring cars. After winning the team and drivers championship in the 2000 clio cup, we where hoping a deal would come together, but it all comes down to money.
AMD tuning are just making the steps by buying an S2000 VW Golf from Estonia. Alot of people will be watching to see if they can make it work...

Hi Mark+team.

I'm looking to potentially get the shocks rebuilt on my Trophy and maybe the suspension upgrades you supply.

I'd like to know what you offer and at what price.

Ok, I'll give you a call. I'm quite imminentley considering getting the shocks rebuilt and may tag on the upgrade but before I do ring do you maintain the shocks? Can you rebuild them? If you don't see this in time I'll be ringing anyway, it's just curiosity.

Hi Jamie,
We have seen alot of the trophy suspension. There is alot of dicussion surrounding the dampers.
Rebuilds can be arranged for £100-£150 depending on symptoms and condition.
Give Mark a call as he knows them well and can advise accordingly.

Hi there,

We have just put together a website (Finally!). There is quite a lot of Renault content on there as you can imagine - Many pictures to browse.

We have plans for a larger version with all the on-board and race footage, all the timesheets, results pages, coupe manuals etc.

I booked my Willy 2 in for cambelt kit a couple of years ago with Mark & a bolt was not tightened or missing. Anyway awful noise, could have been disasterous results but I switched engine straight off & Mark said it all had to be done again. Even though it was all rectified FOC I was a bit hacked off taking it to a specialist & then finding out one of the boys there did it when I was given the impression Mark would be doing the work.
Not good for 1st impression but I did return & had my rear arches done & was happy with that but not sure I would go back with anything mechanical until I had been assured ALL staff knew what they were doing.
Not a critcism but a different viewpoint.

Hi Jaine,
I have passed you comments to Mark and maybe he will comment about the incident, maybe he doesn't need to - apart from apologising profusely, as I am sure he did at the time.
Unfortunately, it would be impossible to run the business as a one-man-band, as most will understand.
Also unfortunately, mistakes can happen (or something seems to have gone wrong). And he wouldn't mind me saying that even he makes mistakes.
You only have to watch a Formula 1 or BTCC race to realise the best in the business sometimes get it wrong, it wouldn't stop me taking my car to McLaren.

Naturally, you would be hacked off, but it sounds as though it was rectified amicably in the end. The company's reputation has been build on the service provided and custom has grown through recommendations, not advertising. Hopefully this fact and a google search should prove that we can be trusted with mechanical work.
The motorsport reliability record is also a testament to this.
