Is it best to take the car for a good hammering on the track and then change, fuel filter, then maybe ht leads, dizzy, spark plugs etc?

Or

Change them before so they are new for the track?

Plugs were changed about 8k ago!
Fuel filter about 15k,
Oil, about 4k ago with fully synthetic,
air filter, 15k ago on an ITG,
HT, dizzy and rotor 15k ago!

Any help would be great,

Cheers
Danny

I'd say before mate. Even if it's just the oil you do. Vital you've got good oil in there before thrashing the hell out of it for a whole day; things get very hot.

True but changed it a month or 2 ago with fully synthetic and only done a few thousand miles, can't go replacing it just yet, maybe after 5k or 6k miles!

I agree with zollo. If it saves damage to your engine mate, for the sake of a few quid id change the oil.

I'm not doing anything to mine. I might top the oil up to an acceptable level though!

I changed mine before FCS, done 2k since then, so won't be changing it, will make sure everything is topped up to max, and prolly up the concentration of the coolant, and will be taking a litre ort so spare to top up after the day......FCS i didn't use much oil, but at the airfield day i burnt about half a litre off

before and after.

If oil temps exceed 110 deg and the thrashing on track reduces effective lifespan of the oil to about 10 hours.

Ben but what happens if the oil says it is capable of temps up to 120 deg or higher, then I take it, 110 will not reduce it's life?

^^^^

I think it does still reduce the lifespan. Just because it can handle 120 doesn't mean it like to run at that temp for long.

I'd deffo change oil before, and then do a full service after.

any oil running hihg temps, even if its capable of 'withstanding' upto 130, will break down very rapidly on a track day.
