Hi all,

was reading the thread on michelin tyres, and noted people were using two sizes of tyre (185 and 195)

I have checked my car and it has 185 firestones on the front and 205 BF goodrich on the back.

Are these too big?

Will consider downsizing if you feel it will improve things. Its my first willy and had it a few moths, but have only got it going recently. due to the whether I have not given it a good run so not sure what its like in terms of handling!...just think the tyres may be too big. would like to know what sizes you lot have!

Personally I'd not run 205's. Increased tramlining & road noise. Better on the rear though as I feel the 195's do alter the feedback you get from the skinnier tyres on the front.

I preffered 195 rather than 185. Never had a problem with tram lining.

so yuo suggest 205's on the rear or 195

and I gues 185 on front?

what is the standard williams set up?

185/55 all round.

Some people go for 195/50 all round.

Never heard of people running different tyre widths at the front and rear.

One bloke on here (Mark Ritchspeed) used to run 205's but that was a long time ago.

and the 205s up front will foul the arches.

i used to run 205/45s on the valver, albeit in 16s fitment.......wasnt too bad with the narrower track, but would catch something rotten on the wider track of the willy

personally i prefer the 195/50s, sharper turn in

Having bigger tyres in the back (or front) means you are dragging more rotational weight around. More sensible to downsize the tyres.

I ran 0101 with 205's on the rear for a while - I actually really liked it - the rear was stuck to the road like glue.... found the rear much more "alive" when I reverted back to 185's...
