Hi Guys,

Just changed the alternator and finally got the will going after nearly 2 months of standstill.

Anyway, I did change the aux belt at the same time.

Now, I get a screeching noise when I turn the wheel at low revs. Seems to be coming from the drivers side.

also get some resistance when turning at this piont. Almost feels like something is rubbing against the aux belt, but surely this can not be the case.

Could it be 1. the aux belt is not tight enough
2. PS pump gone.

What do you think?

if it is PS pump is it a ball ache?

Thanks

Aux belt not tight enough, squeals like a stuck pig, especially in the damp

Could be the pump as well  had a the same thing with mine turned out that the bearing in the pump collapsed.

Tighten the belt 1st to see if that does the trick  The pump can be a pain in the arse but that's just down to the space or lack of it down there - especially if you've got big fat hands - remove the headlight & maybe the bonnet & radiator will be loads of room if you take the last 2 off

It'll be loose belt.
