View Full Version : Michelin Pilot Exalto
Michelin Pilot Exalto
or
Michelin Pilot Exalto 2

This is a cliosport question as the 182s run PE2s as standard!
Have a search and see what you can find!

Matty is running them on LMG, talk to him
I'm quite tempted by them, but the cost compared to my beloved parada's is sort of putting me off atm :?
i have them on the williams, alreadyy, but i want to know what the pe pe2 thing is
i cant see pe2 on the michelin website, just pe
so did pe2 superceed pe? does it say pe2 on the tyre sidewall?
whats the crack!

The last set I had on 123 were PE2's.
I'm now rolling on Federals [:(]

Right, on the sidewall the PE2 means pilot exalto 2

Right, cool - but are the PEs a different compound/tread to the PE2s?

ah, in that case i retract previous statement, i have pe2's
Best tyre I've ever had. Brilliant in wet and dry. Could be extentiated by the car.
nope, fine on other tyres  dont get me wrong, they are very good in the wet/damp and more than acceptable in the dry but for the price i don't think i'd ever buy any, these came on the car.
i was worried about the tramlining being the car so swapped the turbo wheels on for a test, all good 8)
PE2 are the best alround tyre you can get (would be the PS2 but doesnt come in the Clio size)
I've just swapped from GSD3s to PE2s...
Can't say ive tested the performance of the PE2s, given the recent weather, but they're meant to be *nearly* as good as the Goodyears.
Coupled with the vastly better wear rate, road noise and comfort, they're better imo! I didn't realise how uncomfortable the F1s were until I swapped them!
Got all 4 from costco for £182 fitted, which you'll be hard pressed to beat for F1s.. if you can find them at all!
thumbs up from me :)
what profile was that matteh? main issue i have is i want to return to o/e profile and not have one of these 'fancy' tread patterns and main arrow is pointing to the pe2's but as said i have a few problems with performance, not bad but not willing to pay through nose for a set to find them doing it again

I just got a new set of tyres and was going to go for the michelin pe2 but they were 80odd quid a tyre. Went for the continental premium contact 2 instead and can't fault them amazing grip in the wet. Michelins tend to last alot longer though and are good in the dry but not so good in the wet. The old tyres that came off my car were the original michelin pilots? and were scary in the wet if u put the foot down
Gav
never had a promblem with gsd3's in all the years ive been using them, well apart from wear rate  sorry never tried the michelins, took a look at the price then looked away
had both pe's and pe2's.......for me the 2s lasted longer, and took the piss out of the pe's for grip in both wet/dry. altho its a long long time ago i had the pe's , they were a hell of a lot better than the original hx's tho. but then tbf, the hx's were in 185/55, the pe, pe2s in 195/50
They are pricey as ****. I was tempted to get something else but I'm keeping the T as it came from the factory.
£45/corner fitted is fine with me :P
good price, wrong profile for me though, thats the stopper, 185/55 is too rare these days so tyres cost

Let us know your impressions if you get the PE2s in 185/55/15 as I have considered them over F1s but it's a lot of money to try them out if you don't like them once they're on...
Matty - how do you mean the F1s were uncomfortable?!
get 195/50/15 , always cheaper in my experience .

I think I'll stick to 185s :P
I find that once they are worn, they seem to get 'wider' (the F1s do anyway) and start to tramline more, so I can only imagine that 195s do it worse!!
Cant get 195 / 50 F1's anymore can you?

For some annoying reason they've only produced the new assymetric version in something like 215/45/17 and bigger
The GSD2 and GSD3 are still good but, given how well they must sell still, why not make the new assymetric in that size too? Is it some sort of tyre snobbery?!
Matty - how do you mean the F1s were uncomfortable?!
considerably louder and a much firmer ride
the PE2s seem far less crashy :?
hi guys i have got eagle f1s all round on my car and have found that they are awesome in the dry good in the wet and not good in snow! hence my slighly kerbed wheel due to some slippery action trying to stop at a set of lights!
oh yeah they are on a williams 3
