Hi guys,

Changing alternator. Nearly out! but a sezied bolt needs some attention.

Anyway, I was going to replace the aux belt too.

Can i do it from the enginge bay alone? or do I have to take off the wheel and inner arch to get to it as well?

If so, may just leave it for mo.

Plus, belt did come off alternator without loosening tensioner. I did need to put some effort in. If it does go back like that will it be ok, or will it be too slack?

Just the bolt is seized too!

Really you need to get the wheel and lower cambelt cover off. It's simple to do.

Replace the belt. Its cheap and worth doing now.

As for tensioning, if you were happy with the tension before, then yes, if you haven't slackened off the tensioner you can refit the belt and move the alternator back into position...though you will need to wedge a long neck screwdriver or similar between the alloy bracket and alternator itself to get the upper alternator bolt in. Careful not to damage anything as it may require some force.
