I read somewhere that there is a fix you can get/do for stopping the mk1 clio bouncing speedo needle.

Is this true and can anyone shed any light on a part number and where I could get this part?

any help is greatly appreciated!

There's a guide about this over on Clio16Valver.co.uk

Be careful though, i tried to replace the speedo drive in the gearbox and ended up completely ****ing the speedo drive.

In the end i ditched the williams box that i killed and got a Megane box instead.

I might add that it actually made no difference to how much the speedo bounced.

The best thing you can do is get a new cable really.

Indeed i am!

In all seriousness though, i pulled out the existing plastic speedo drive from the williams box, and whatever it was clipped into to drive is disappeared and it wouldn't clip back in :(

Heard rumours that this could be due to worn diff bearings though. Would make sense actually as someone had put some VERY thick glupey oil into that gearbox, probably to quieten it down as the diff may have been whining.

Fail...
