Ive had this problem for a little while now and its starting to get worse. it only happens when then car is cold or hasnt been used for a day or two maybe. ive tried changing the idle valve twice now (buying others off ebay) and does the same thing. I have a video of it on youtube when its trying to idle. Any ideas anyone? Most appreciated.

have you tryed the right cts, as one is for the display, the other which effects idle is for the ecu.

yeah ive tried both, theres one with a white connecter block which i think is the cts and another with a black connecter above it but yeah dunno what to try next before it goes to the garage :/.

have you checked the lambda sensor as there known for causing cold idle issues

whats the condition of the cooling system ? got brown coolant in there ?
assuming you actually found the cts ,did it not make any difference to
the idle speed at all ??
what about disconnecting lambda sensor plug ??

my 19 16v used to do the exact same thing ,giving it a good blast
sorted it out .

Nah my cooling system looks good, not brown anyway lol but yeah i disconnected the cts senser and it made the idle more lumpy but still couldnt idle at the same time. i havent tries the lamba senser yet ill try that tomorrow. need to find where bouts it is :/ lol

the lambda sensor itself is mounted on the exhaust downpipe just before the cat, and the plug should be around the subframe above the downpipe if its still attached to the proper place.

ayee give the lambda a shot .

richy , there is only 1 cts mate . the one you are referring to
would be a temperature sender unit

considering the term CTS cans be used for both...

coolant temperature sensor
coolant temperature sender

it can be easy for someone to check the wrong one, which is why i stated to check........

but i guess you mean the coolant dual function temperature switch
