View Full Version : steel head gasket
Hi All!
I have a bit modified engine with cams etc. It is around ~200hp (at 7500rpm), and after 7000km, the head gasket sadly went wrong. Actually I am looking for a steel head gasket. It is exist for the 17poo at Renault, but not for the Williams either for the 16v.
I would like to ask your oppinion about what type are you using, who is the manufacturer, and what experiencers or idea you have.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Oszy
how did the gasket go ?? thats the question i would address
before throwing more money at it laine style

too much heet, due to the high rewwing, and increased gas flow
I use it for sprint races too, where in first and second gear I rew it a lot
there is your answer , you will have to find a way of better cooling
rather than looking for a stronger gasket .
i would rather have the gasket go than the head to warp

thank you for both of you!
I'm with schakal on this one... if you put a stronger head gasket in, and there is still something wrong with the engine, the gasket won't pop, but everything else will...
That gasket is like a safety switch that pops before the rest does :)...
My turbolump runs standard headgasket, and still revs hard to 7200... about 6000 km's on it now :).... (and it got 200 hp on the wheels :) )
No problems mate, for sure, only need a stronger gasket
200 on the wheels? nice!

Nobody mentioned Spesso. I think they are one of the best and a lot of competition teams use it.

I designed mine by myself, because it was so specific that nobody would make me one. It was manufactured by a local shop.

nice discussion, but i'm gonna be the arse :D
Does anybody have an idea at how much pressure/temp standard HG's are tested ?
I even dear to say that whe use goetze (fleebay) headgaskets for high boost (low comp) turbo conversions at 1.5 tot 1.8 bar. When you blow a hg, check feulling and ignitionsettings because there somethings wrong !
Just my 2 cents,
peace people, dont shoot me
mate of mine is on 1.1 bar and standard headgasket, and i'm going standard next time as well unless another spesso comes up cheap like last time
i have a dynomovie on youtube, pushing 3 bar boost on a std hg on my 21.
@Coops, whe always use std ones. On the other hand, all the cars are custom mapped on the dyno. Never-ever had a blown hg.
nobody shoted! (jet  )
khm, can you tell me why the new Clio has steel gasket?
(non turbo off course)
