Just to check, does it only come out one way? Drivers side (obv not one on the other side).

Think ive given up tapping it out.

Cant believe what Ive done. Think Im gonna have to take a drill to it out.

Like a twat was hamering it with a nail punch but not checking progress as i was doing it and just nutting it, the punch was wedging itself inbetween the wall of the shaft and the pin.

Finally when I decided to check progress realised what Id done. Tried waggling it out, Stuck to ****! Tried waggling it more, the ****er snapped off!

Oh well, next time Ill remember!

FAIL

Need a proper punch, they can come out either end though

It's unbeliveably better to use a proper punch to get it out compared to anything else, another lesson I learned the haard way

Sometimes they are easier to get out one way than the other I find. Can be a bitch at first, and yes, many have done as you and gotten a punch/screwdriver stuck.

It does not necessarily need belting hard, just enough to shock the pin out a little at a time, making sure your not forcing the tool you use into the hole.

Think I used a flat head screwdriver along the edge of the pins the first time. The roll pins themselves are hollow so you need to tap the edges, not the middle.

just keep bashing it will come out eventually .

i use a long bolt and a nut instead of the roll pin .

That's just being a pikey schacks :P

The pin itself is 5mm iirc but if you use a 4mm punch it's thin enough that it wont get stuck in the hole & just big enough to tap the pin out. A bit of WD40 might help as well since it could have rusted in there

I've got a flat headed screwdriver which is the perfect size. Must be 4mm as it always punches it out but never gets stuck in the hole :D

Win!

just make sure your pubch is bigger then the roll pin's hole, else all you do is squash it to the outside, and can't get it out :P

yup, mk2s dont use a pin, the hole is there, they just dont fit a pin. Not necessary IMO. my car doesn't have it fitted

The length of the shaft should keep it on the driveshaft sunwheel, i don't think there's enough plunge for it to come off.

I'd rather run one though, saves it moving around

the meganes, lagunas, clios etc don't come with the pin later on, inside the inner CV theres a cup and spring to keep the cv held onto the end of the output shaft.

You can run the older ones with no pin but if the trackings not right you can pull the shaft off the output splines.

Im having a fooking nightmare with this driver side d/shaft.

Its preventing me lifting the engine out.

The shaft is out I can feel it, but can't draw it out of the box?

Does that rubber gator circled need to come away? I see it as this stopping it from coming out. Is that band like a big jubilee? How do i get it off? Is this the thing thats squashing the rubber seal on?

Or im quite possibly barking up the wrong tree!!?

HELP ME!!!

The hole shaft comes off as per the haynes manual. There is a splined gearbox shaft that inserts into the driveshaft where you have removed the rolled pin.

This can get a little tight due to corrosion etc. If you can tap it away from the box with a rubber mallet or similar.

Once it starts to move you can level with a screwdriver but be careful as the outer disc is only alloy.

U got both pins out? Can take a picture of my bearbox just removed if it helps?

According to haynes, only one pin, the one I have in my pic....can't see anymore?

That was the way I was doing it at first, with a hammer trying to twat it out, problem is cant really get a good bash on it.

That was then when I though maybe the gator needs to come off.

Back to original way then, cheers. So just give it a good one with a hammer?

Any pics would be sorted.

When I removed my driveshaft there was a pin within the pin!

Hopefully these pics will help.
