Borrowed my mates GPRS speed checker today to get some times. I did about 15 runs. But anyway my best 3 were:

0-60

7.11
7.09
7.09

1/4 mile

15.04
15.15
15.08

Top Speed

138mph (had to slow for traffic)
139mph (had to slow for traffic)
144mph

Gotta love the new gearbox lol.

Its a hybrid box I built mate. Very high final drive (3.4:1) with low 1st & 2nd gears to get the 0-60 down and a high 4th & 5th to make the top speed higher.

The engine is standard apart from a decated Magnex exhaust and a IK with cold air feed.

It ran a 15.4 with the standard Valver gearbox, and you can definetley feel the difference with this box. 3rd takes it to just short of 120mph, 4th to about 138mph and 5th up to 144mph lol.

Just gotta do a few 1/4 mile runs now and I might start building gearboxes to sell, got to make sure its stronger first though. Just saving some money up for a 2 litre conversion for mine, should be a bit quicker then.

Does the really long 3rd,4th,5th not take you off cam on changes?

3rd drops it to about 3700rpm but it pulls fine (though 3rd takes ages as its going from about 68-117mph lol.

4th and 5th drop to about 4300rpm.

Ive been building Hewland gearboxes for a few years now, so I used one of their calculators to select the best ratios I wanted. I then got the closest I could from Renault & Volvo cars lol.

*Forgot to add I built the gearbox mainly so I could stay in 3rd till the end of the 1/4 instead of changing into 4th 50yds before the end.

Mine at the mo with 7k limit is

1st 30
2nd 61
3rd 90
4th 111
5th About 147

Thinking of getting a really short ratio Kangoo box like mark Ritchspeed has in his....will work out a lot cheaper than a willy box too!

Thats what the old gearbox in mine was. It was all wrong for 1/4 miling as I had to change gear right before the end for no extra acceleration.

I looked at the Kangoo gearbox but I don't know how strong they are. The casing/shafts & bearings in mine are similar to Williams box but a bit stronger apparently. I'll see as soon as I 1/4 mile it.
