Hi guys,

Selling my Ford Mondeo 1.8LX Duratec Engine , 2001, Y Reg. SILVER. 105,000 Miles. 5 door.

Full electrics, air con (ICE cold), CD player etc.

MINT interior, totally immaculate.

No History (2 previous owners).

£650.00 No Offers.

Bad point with the car;

I bought the car in April and went to take it for its MOT in june, but it is smoking really badly.

Therefore it won’t go through the emissions on the MOT.

I don’t know the exact problem with the car, but have a feeling its PISTON RINGS.

I originally thought it was the valve stem oil seals, so replaced these but it made no difference. Still smokes.

Therefore im 99.9% sure it’s the rings.

This car only requires 2 front tyres and the smoking sorted and it WILL pass an MOT. NO other advisories when in for MOT in June.

Since having the car I have replaced;

New Valve Stem Seals (Ford)
Head Head Gasket (Ford)
New Water Pump
New Oil Filter
New Oil Change

Its taxed till end of Sept.

The only other bad point is on the rear passenger door area there are a couple of sections where the paintwork has been caught. Other than this the body is MINT. I cannot find any dents anywhere.

Car drives and starts fine, but I wouldn’t advise driving away, unless your local, as you would probably draw a bit of attention to yourself! ;)

In all HONESTY, I want to keep this car and get it roadworthy, but I just haven’t got the time, and when it was still smoking after doing the seals, I just lost motivation.

EASY fix for someone who knows what they’re doing, with just time plus new rings at around £60-£80.

DURATEC cover for engine bay present, just havent put it back on yet

This car is a GREAT car, drives great, smooth, tight and comfy.

Any questions PM me. Available for viewing any day with notice.

Cheers

Im watching this on Ebay,am seriously considering. I reckon poss engine out if rings gone cause bores could be scored.

The only other hurdle is getting it back home!

Hi Col.

Got your message off ebay. Replying here though

A) 1 set of Keys.
B) V5 Present
C) No history

2 Previous owners (One before me from Altrincham) . Maybe he has history. I have his address on the V5 but havent bothered contacting him.

I got this from an auction house in Manchester back in April (1st week in April). I paid quite a bit more than 1k for it. Quite a bit more!!

I was running it as my daily driver everyday to work and back for 3 months. No issues. Then obviously took it for its MOT and it failed on emissions!!! It only smoked when you held it a 3k in neutral, not when running it, and this is why I was so surprised when I was told about it.

If I stuck 50k on the clock, you seriously would not doubt it, for the condition the car is in. Apart from the scuff on rear passenger door. The interior is like new. Its a real nice car to drive. EVERYTHING on it works.

The engine bay is bone dry, no oil leaks or fluid leaks. Its also dry underneath. The guy even commented at the MOT that it was a real shitter as its a good car.

As in both ads, I just cannot be bothered with the car now as much as Id like to keep it. Hence reason for wanting it shifted.

These cars are quite comfortably clearing £1500 on autotrader and ebay with this mileage.

You might be ok driving it back at night!

Make me and offer! PM Me. Anything considered!

Fix the smoking and it will pass an MOT.

Just finished on ebay, lots of interest, but as usual timewasters. Going to list it again.
