when you look at standard struts on a clio the bottom cup mount has
an angle which in turn the spring does not sit in a flat manner but on coilovers in general both top and bottom coil mounts are sitting perfectly flat.
now my question is , does this not cause a change in the geometry of the car , how it sits on the front suspension and how it steers etc ?

this is obviously not only for clios only ,i can see most mc pherson type
suspension systems being affected by this ,if there is a problem of course ??

DISCUSS :P

Does it not just mean the spring is sitting at a different angle?
The struts are still bolted in the same place.

Also the springs on Coilovers tend to be flat at teh top and bottom whereas the standard springs still 'coil'.

yes strut is all the one bolted up so spring movement shoudnt affect geometry atall

i see what you are saying ,here are a few more thoughts
i want to throw in

at the strut assembly the bottom coil cup is welded at a specific position in relation to the bottom mounting bracket .they always stay at that position when the car is steered . this angle and position has got to do something with something otherwise it would not be different in every other car i checked .

ok , the bottom mounting locates the strut at the bottom but especially
on a clio the top of the strut top mount is not actually bolted to the
turrets , which does allow movement at the top in return moving the bottom
of the strut ,which passes it on to the hub hence pulling/pushing it ??

The top of the strut is located with the weight of the car pushing down on the mounting rubber.

Aye^ The rubber donut is a good fit to the tower not giving any movement other than the strut turning on the bearing

"rubber" and "not giving any movement" does not sound right used
in the same sentence but i have never driven a clio hence i will take your
word for it
