check the dipstick. it should be orange with a white dot. also the manifold is different. and the block should be stamped with F7R and not F7P (which is a 16 valve).

on the front under the inlet manifold.

is the engine in or out of the car?

The biggest difference between the 2 is the internals, williams has a slightly bigger bore and a longer stroke, also the inlet valves in the head are bigger on the williams

in the car its got a aftermarket manifold aswell so wont be able to tell from that.. also.. its got a power boost valve thing.. is that anything to do wit wen you start the car up it sort of hunts like revs up a little bit then drops below 1000k then settles and it does this alteast 10 times then its fine once its done it, also it its powerless?? put your foot down, theres hardly any power..??

sounds like a chavved 1.8 mate, power boost valve wants binning and normal regulator putting back on, then test it on the power front

if you drive the two engine side by side its really easy to tell them apart as a the williams lump has a lot more pull low down as its much torquier
