all is fine when i am driving the car in low revs up to 4-5k
however once driven hard for a couple minutes and the heat goes up
to the 3rd line it just wont cool down when driven at 3-3.5k revs
to try cooling it .
the radiator fan is working perfectly normal and the thermostat is
opening fine as i can monitor the temps of the water going in to the
rad from an extra sensor and gauge combo .

i thought the radiator was not up to the job first
but it cools the rad down when stuck at lights etc and
the temps go up to 3 rd line ,it drops it to 2.5 line mark after a
20 seconds etc .

so it leaves me with the water pump , are these known to lock
up and let the belt slip over the pulley at all ?
i have a non p/s belt setup btw and the belt only drives
the alternator and water pump .

My guess is that you ran up the oil temperature too high during the hard drive. And the water radiator can't quite cool it down fast enough. Anyway, the water gauge needle positions you mentioned don't sound too bad, I get those kinds of readings too driving hard on a hot day.

i have not got an oil cooler but i kinda see what you are saying .

when i say it stays at 3rd line ,that was for about 15 minutes
of driving under 3.5k revs and it was still at the third line .
if i were to belt it more the temps would go higher .

i have been to track days before and always managed to cool it down with 5 mins of under 3.5k driving . something is deffo not right here mate
