The shells on my spare F7R 700 went after the oil got too hot and span. Probably worn the crank a bit.

Is it possible to regrind it or would it be easier/cheaper to get another? Is it worth lightening/balancing it as well?

Get it checked, you *may* be lucky with just getting the journals polished

Ahh ok. Do they like stick it on a machine to test it and spin it etc?

I am planning on rebuilding the engine as a mini project and getting it as good as new or better. May as well get it lightened as well I guess...

Not sure how they check it, using micrometer's or something I'd imagine.
You should do the flywheel aswell if your going to do the crank.

I wonder who can do this sort of thing...

Craig can. Carraige would be expensive though.

:goodposting: it's done with micrometers, a local engine builder will have a book full of the tolerances, he'll measure & compare then tell you what needs doing to it if necessary

i had my crank reground to first oversize, Flywheel refaced, all balanced including clutch pressure plate and front pulley and they supplied the oversize bearings. Just go to a local engine services shop.

Cant remember the price but it was reasonable and well worth it
