i understand the pads can come out if the little clips
etc are not fitted properly (happened to me on the motorway )
but how the hell does the caliper
come off ???

Pad falls out ...... Caliper piston fully extends / digs into the disc, disc snaps, piece of disc lodges in bewteen wheel and caliper snaps hub carrier bolts, hub carrier spins round rips brake line and hand brake cable off from caliper, caliper rips off and make a hole on the inside of the wheel the size of a 50p and then bounces down the road............

Sad but true......... :(

i must have been lucky as i noticed seconds after the pad
fel off (pedal hits the floor untill the piston hits the disc)
i was on the m4 as well ,called rac and got towed to the nearest
garage after realising looking for the pads and the pins wont be
clever between jct 22 and 23 :D

The pad must have come out during the last event as we had a scaryy 100mph moment on the grass as we missed the chicane due to 0 brakes. Pumped the pedle a bit and the car was fine for the rest of the day....

Sounds like we were lucky it didnt happen on the event..!!!
