i have a problem where my intermitent wipers will not work and the wipers will not go to the 'start' position when i turn them off. basically they are like and on off switch if i turn them off mid screen they stop, and as per title they dont work at all on intermitent.

I have tried a new wiper stalk that i bought and had the same problem (coinsidence maybe?), is there a relay that could be knackered? the stalk (and the spare one), a fuse?

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Within the motor mechanism there is usually a metal disc or set of contacts which break the cct when wipers return to end of cycle.

Sometimes if these get corroded etc the motor simply does not know when to stop as it cant determine what position it is in.

It may just be a relay somewhere.

Cant comment directly on the clio but this has happened on other cars I have had.

a blown fuse

all fuses seem ok under passenger footwell?

Wrighty - is this a wiper motor apart jobbie?

On other cars it was a case of stripping down the wiper assembly and cleaning it all up.

Worth checking it is not a relay before ripping car to bits!

As mentioned previously cant comment directly on clio though. Sorry cant be more clio specific!

I've had this trouble before, changed the relay, control stalk and the whole wiper assembly and still didnt fix it. i put it down to a loom fault. sod all else it could be :?

I would say the relay.
