Standard Exhaust

Hello,

I recently bought a standard exhaust cat back from Renault, I fitted it at the weekend but it doesn’t seem to hang right.

The U - bend section which joins the centre pipe to the rear section seem to hang really low, And I can’t see how the mount on the U-Bend works

As it’s a close loop mount same with the one on the car

Sounds like you have a 16v one.
Other than taking it back you need to cut one of the closed loops.

were the U bend mount is theres 2 rods that stick out on the chassis(you can see 1 in the pic) the mount on the U bend itself needs to be in the middle of them, then it should be attached with 2 rubber hangers ie one above, one below.

is this the exhaust thats in 3 sections, if so losen the two rear clamps and position the exhaust, retighten clamps and its job done

yeah the exhaust is in 3 sections, ill need to check the part numbers

Only seem to be one closed hoop on the car, think ill go to renault and make sure it aint a 16v one

Just been to renault and it appears to be the right exhaust

But i still cant understand how it mounts, with the close loops

Does anyone have any photos of there standard exhaust mounted to the williams?

Also can anyone confirm the part numbers for the centre and rear sections

part numbers are as follows as i have just bought middle and rear sections

centre silencer/pipe 7700844320
rear silencer 6001025876

Thanks mate, see your u-bend is it close loops or open loop the mounting bracket?

that join from the tail of the pipe that goes over the rear axle, and connects to the long centre pipe, thats one of them pesky splayed out flanged ends is it not??? that clamp thats on it, does it have just the one bolt??

hi m8 in answer to your question the clamp that connects the mid section to the rear section has bolts top and bottom so should clamp up evenly, its a renault item the only ones i have seen like this, the usual cheaper type have one bolt :) :)

hi m8 ur parts are right i had a word with m8 at renault and he has confirmed part numbers seems just a misprint on my original quote had a look at my invoice and part nos are the same sorry if its caused a bit of confusion so seems more likely that your system need tweaking to improve its routing/positioning :)

I've just bought a new rear section, and have a closed loop on the silencer, its a ball ache. Last time I got the garage to open it, put the rubber mount on and re-weld it.

I can't see your pics as I'm at work, but I'll be interested to see if its the same as mine.

closed loop mount is only on the separate short section that goes over the axle if u get the right sort of rubber mount jobs a good un :wink:

mine hangs low too - not quite as bad as yours but definately low..... two closed loops so no way of hanging either....

What bit of rubber is that? All the mounts I've used/got are identical

Thats what I have, but you can only get those round one loop. If both loops, both have closed ends like mine, they dont work.
