Alot to read though but any help given would be great.

I'm having a problem starting.

My car as been off the road for about 7 months plus and i finally got it M.O.Ted the other week which it failed on the rear fog lights, reg light and all four tyres.
Sorted that out and got it retested and it passed.

Went to start it after I had arrived home from work, (car was taken my a mechanic).

It wouldn't fire up but it did cranked over.

It made a clicking noise from the injectors (ECU issue) changed the ECU which solved the clicking noise.

It still won't start, i've found out that its not making a spark (by pluging a spark plug to lead and earthing the thread of the spark plug). Also there is no movement from the rev needle.

I've tried:
ECU
Coil pack
Checked all the earths (two gearbox, strap by wheel and one by the head light).
ISCV
Cleaned up the TDC sensor (only a year old).
Checked for fuel (some in the manifold from the cold start injector, now unpluged it)
Checked for the fuel pump.

Any ideas?
I'm really stuck.

Thanks for any help,
Flash

Also tried
A different H/T lead
Dizzy is about a year old also.

I'm guessing its coil pack related.

if you have spark then its fuel related at a guess

crank it over spray some wd40 into the intake as see if it fires on it..

at least then you will now you have spark or fuel issues..

Check your dizzy cap points.
Mine where dirty, therefore not giving me a spark.

Might be worth trying crank position sensor, make sure its earthed properly on to the gearbox.

Would that be the top dead centre sensor on top of the gearbox?

I plugged the spark plug into the lead going into the dizzy which rules out the dizzy.
Wouldn't hurt to clean it though.

yeah the crank position sensor sits on top of the gearbox also know as TDC sensor

Put a williams ECU on, got a williams engine in a valver.

Does the ECU have an immobiliser?
Wouldn't it start but then cut out in a pedal is touched?
If it had a an immobiliser would that stop it sending a pulse to the rev counter?

its nothing to do with how charged the battery is
did you notice any of the battery terminals getting hot
when you cranked with no start ??

a williams ecu would not cause any issues but i bought a williams ecu and it was ****ed before i started so just wonder if the one u have fitted has a fault could try borrowing one that is working just to confirm this, or try a PH1 16v ecu that will work just u will need to change the chip but it will run so proving whether ecu is faulty then change the chip for a williams one, hope that all made sense
car would not start then cut out when u touch the accelerator pedal well not in my experience

all this advice gives you quite a bit to go on but can side track u away from the problem its just a case of working through the problem methodically good luck :)

Well checked dizzy this morning along with the battery terminals and they are spotless.

If the ECU was faulty would that stop the coilpack from sending a pulse to the rev counter?

Does anyone have an ECU (williams ph1) and coilpack for sale? or loan?

Cheers,
Flash
