gearbox woes...

just a quick question guys. we blew the gearbox last weekend at a track night...
the williams is only used on the track and i need another box...

has any one tried putting a box ot of something else in. ie like a diesel or something to get closer ratios?????

box out a 172 or that fit ???

Ive seen pics of 172 boxes on f7rs but believe it requires different mounts.

Jc5s from renault are £600ish for reconed units. They seem to crop up on here quite alot in the 'for sale' section though

can fit any mk 1 clio gearbox you like. diesel box gives longer 3rd 4th and 5th i think? renault 19 boxes also fit, 1v for definate, diesel aswell and possible lower models aswell

can fit mk 2 pahse 1 172 gearbox with mechanical speedo drive but requires mk 2 gearbox top mount aswell, but that should bolt straight onto your chassis legs provided you dont have ABS

believe mk 1 megane box off the f7r powered coupe should fit also, not sure on mounting for that tho, normal clio mk1 top mount may bolt straight on?

seen a laguna box fitted before but only on the lower additional renault 19/clio 172 gearbox mount and as such believe it didnt last long due to excessive movement.

would need to use the mk2 clio mount and battery tray for the meggy and laguna box
