right the car doesnt start on the starter motor, battery dead ish, it will bump start then run fine for a few mintues, but the rev limit slowly drops and it shows its idleing at 500 but it isnt so must be reading wrong. the lights on the dash go dimmer when you turn anything on, lights e.t.c, i presumed this would be battery/alternator related, i changed the battery and it was the same, but the battery had been sitting for a few weeks, bumped it and it done the same, i then changed the aternator and its still exactly the same.

Anyone know whats wrong? gearbox earth's still attached and correct

probably worth noting that the battery light does not come on, but does work.

It will 100% be earth related imo. Although your gearbox earth is connected, what about all the others?

clean all main earths again including their mounting points preferably
with a wire brush attachment on a drill .
than do the same to all terminals connected to the battery(even if they look clean !! they need to be shiny to work 100%) and the
connection points on the battery (go easy on them as they are made of cheese :D )

To confirm whether it's an earthing problem. Get a some heavy gauge cables and connect them from battery ground to starter/alternator/ECU chassis. If doing that helps with the symptoms, it's probably an earthing issue.
