In around a year im thinking of getting a bit of a newer motor, something for work etc and having the silver williams as a track weekend car!

Anyway here are my options, what do people think are what would they get if they wanted a second motor?

An Audi S3?

Clio V6?

Alpha Romeo 147 GTA?

Mitsi Evo 5 or 6?

Scooby P1?

Sheesh. I'd always thought of cheaper cars when I've mooted the idea of a weekday car!

Not that you do things by half Danny! TBH most of those will probably cripple you in terms of running costs.

You'd be better off with something like an ITR, ATR etc. Something a bit older and japanese, that can be practical, railable, quick (but not stupidly so) and handle well.

GTAs are lovely and I'd love one, but not for a few years when mostr of the value has fallen off them.

Clio V6 also nice but I'd wait 'til the 255 version drops to about £15k personally.

Evos will cost the earth to service and run

Audi is a bit dull

Scooby is the most nicked car in the country

mate bought a V reg audi A4 1.9 TDI! not the fastest of cars, but we did a 650 mile trip on 3/4 of a tank (£40 of fuel)

cant complain at that!

Evo, highly tuned S3 or the king, Escort Cosworth (tuned)

lol at Mike...yer there are some pretty nice motors in that list.....but I suppose cars are one of my big hobbies and whilst im still at home I might as well enjoy them lads....mind you in a years time my circumstances might have changed...we will see!

Winston - Escort Cosi's are well nice and would love one, might add that to the list!

2live - im suprised you said the EVO fella espeically after that time we chased one!!!!

I suppose the maintanence of the EVO would be a killer, is it servicing every 4k?

The alpha and audi i think would be one of the best options insurance, petrol, servicing wise as they wouldn't need doing as often, both around 30 to the gallon, insurance 16 or 18 for the S3 and both nice motors!

Which should we do away with then?

I'd be very, very surprised if you could get close to 25mpg in the Alfa Danny, let alone 30. They are thirsty beasts, especially if thrashed. Which, lets face it, when an engine sounds that beautiful you'd be thrashing it at every opportunity! Depreciation on them will be shocking as well.

They'll make a great bargain though when they drop under £10k.

P1 sounds nice, whats the main difference between the P1 and 22B?

Also does anyone know the servicing costs, insurance and petrol?

4.6 to 4.9 to 60 for the P1. Felt more like 4.6. I chased one of these through the Welsh mountains as a passenger in Paul Mitchells Lotus Charlton and its was grippy to say the least.

For understated quality and class the Audi & Alfa, the P1 + Mits great performance but crippling running costs. The Clio V6, always wanted one but to expensive right now.

These are your choices as a second car!! F**K ME

Get an S14 Silvia (200sx) for 4k and tune it, then use this as the track car.

Won the lottery....not quite...hopefully i will though!

I wouldn't be getting it until next year..however just seeing what people would go for and there opinions as i will be gettin another car for everyday as the valvers getting older now and she doesn't like the cold mornings...lol

What does everyone think to getting a 182???

Swervin - those pics are well nice!

Id be tempted by an 200sx S14a...i think they look well nice, with leather....that could be a good choice, not to expensive to buy either!

Gunner - i've already got my old clio RT, if i don't sell it by the end of next month then im gonna keep it and run that to work etc, keep the valver for best!!!

TBH if you spent 1/4 of the money you spent on a P1 on your valver your have a very relaible, fun car that you could use on track or road, and the rest of the money use to get a house.
