Anyone driven one.

What do you think.

Driven an R26R.

It's fast, obviously faster than the Willy, but I found the experience a bit boring.

Amazing brakes and handling. I could feel the 'crap-driver' safety aids kicking in when I pushed it.

The Willy is far more raw...mine is at least :)

yes and loved it. got a little stuck with the box, 6th to 3rd, and 5th to 2nd..hehe.

had that sorted after the 1st lap tho. brakes are astounding, handling......well...just chuck it in.it will go round.

very very easy to drive pretty damn quick, as wobba says tho, the driver aids....fukkin annoying.

would i buy 1.....yes....lol

I have & absolutely loved it, I'd definately have one, so much so I'll be looking seriously at my finances next year to see if I can have one, if not, the valver stays

I'm glad I had a go in this particular megane as if I'd driven just the 1 that I had, I would tar them all with the same brush as crap  I've also quite recently drove a 172 and I really liked it  the only criticism I could find was it's gheyness :P

oh and the optional recaros are f'uckin sexual :droool:

I've got a Megane 225 Cup..

Only difference between R26 and Cup mechanically is an LSD, and unless you've driven an LSD car before, or are seriously commited driver, its not worth getting hung up on. I'm a prolific poster on meganesport.net, and created a spreadsheet to compared the different Meg's if anyone seriously is considering one :D

It is incredibly easy to drive fast, I know what you're saying about driver aids, but in the phase 2 on 225, you can switch it off. Going round Rockingham, it didn't feel any faster (and some have done timed laps with the TC on and off and it's no slower with TC on), it just keeps the slip to a minimum. So, if you're after fun, switch it off, times, leave it on..

Day to day, it's really easy to live with (I've done 40k). It lacks a bit when compared to the likes of the VW Golf in terms of build quality, but overall, it's well put together. I've only had one warranty issue with a rear light letting water in and getting fogged up. Keep an eye for tyres (£130 a corner), and for belt changes (it is really cramped, but specialists will sort for a decent price now). Genuine 225 exhausts from Renault are £1000+!!

All in all, if I owned it, I'd defo be keeping it. But, it is being sold and I'm currently looking for a replacement to buy in cash (hence signing up on here 8) ). We've also got a MK4 Golf GTI, 1.8T. It's done 170k, but was bought for a grand (with lots of history of clutch.box etc!). So I'm considering another MK4, or a Williams.

With the Williams, I'm a little scared that it's a nostalgic purchase because I loved them when new, but can they really be driven day to day, and how much cash per month to keep them tip top? Do you get plenty of warning if somethings going wrong (I'm a pretty competant DIY'er, but don't want to spend all my time under it  )

If anyone wants a Meg and is up for giving their Williams+£6k-ish, let me know 8)

R26 with the diff in is a totally different car even to the Cup (mate had a silver one) so driven both. Yes jo blogs wouldnt notice but if you can drive a bit and do track days then it just so much better.

One thing i would say about the older cup verion with no LSD its mega cheep, total bargain. Mate bought his for 13.6k new a few years back, god knows what its worth now though.!

That's what I'm saying, unless you're used to a diff, you're not going to be worried. I've never had an LSD, and can still drive the Cup damn fast. Not saying an LSD is worthless, but a lot of people get hung up on it when like you say, the Cup is a very attractive price atm!

Mine was bought new for £12.5k on a 56, has now done 41k and I've got an offer of £8.3k waiting for my reg to be transferred.
