r888's weigh waaaaaay to much

basically more weight saving to be had, just chopped down from 6.1kg per corner pro race to 4.9kg per corner oz's. but the damn tyres weight in at 8.6kg each

then need to add air, valves, balancing, centre caps and spigots!

so question is is there a particular type of tyre thats known to be 'light' or at least lighter? are the yokohama semi slicks any lighter does anyone know?

cheers

Ben

AFAIK, Continental tyres are generally quite light. But have not used them on the clio.

of salt matey :D
back in the day ,i remember a light weight wheel with a book weight
of 3.6kg actually did weigh near 5.5-6kg

I recently read an article that mentioned Continental tyres being lighter than the other manufacturer's ones, but the tyres they were testing were from the low-rolling resistance 'Eco' range, so not sure whether that translates to any of the tyres we are likely to want to be using.

I have a worn set of Yoko A032Rs and a brand new set of R888s, and although I have not weighed them I would say that there is not likely to be a massive difference in their weights. I would think if you want a decent saving in the weight of the actual tyre then something like the ACB-10s would be worth investigating to see if they can save a good chunk?

Are they 15x7 Superleggeras? They are one of the lighter wheels out there for sure - I have 3 sets - but in 15x7 they are not quite as light as 4.9kg iirc. I think I weighed them before having my R888s mounted so will see if I have noted it down anywhere.

probably closer to 6 in reality .

Their SportContacts are pretty light as well, but I think they don't come in 15 inch sizes for our clios.
