Righto basically my drive is flat but loose gravel, I'd hazard a guess its turned over soil covered with canvas and covered with gravel but quite deep in places.

Anyhoo I need to be able to jack the car up safely and I feel I need to put something under the jack and the axel stands when I'm working on it..

I could do with some suggestion on what to use? basically something that I can stick in the garage when i'm not using it/them but strong enough and cheap enough to get that will be upto the task.

Anyone have a similar issue?

I changed my exhaust today with the car on stands on gravel. Whilst it didnt give me that warm fuzzy safe feeling, it was alright....

Slabs I thought of but how much weight can one take on a centered point? when I last put temp slabs down on grass for the willy to sit on they cracked pretty quickly.

i'd go with some sort of paving slab with some thin plyboard on top

Checkerplate, Doesn't need to be thick, just spread the load.

i'd get some ply board, cut to the smallest size you can get away with for your trolley and axle stands. at least 12mm pref 18mm.

Definately Plyboard. cheap, and can store it up against a wall when not in use.

Yep, changed my mind. Ply would be cheaper and lighter
