Well, I put in a option for none, but it hasn't appeared, but there doesn't appear to be a way to edit / delete the thread, so now no-one can choose that option

Any chance of adding an option to delete / edit our own posts?

sorry no, it was removed due to members abusing/mis-using it

GabrielKnight

Hmm. I can't imagine how you could 'abuse' changing your own post or seen any examples in other forums, but you're the boss.

I've somehow never had any points. Think I might have picked some up last night tho : (

It was removed ages ago due to one member abusing it and everyone gets punished (can't remember exactly how it was being abused, something about posting abusive messages, then deleting it before a mod saw it iirc), there have been loads of posts asking for it to be reinstated, but to no avail. Best to pm a mod if you want anything editing mate...

Well, as a new member who loves it here and very grateful for the service, I won't ever bring it up again other than to ask for the policy to be re-thought. The benefits of editing your own posts, available on most other forums outweigh the occasional disadvantages of prats making then removing childish comments before being banned.

On a different rant, I think the speed limits are really poorly thought out. 30 seems about right in built up / heavily areas, esp with schools etc. Maybe even 20 in danger areas to prevent accidents by drivers that can't be bothered to pay attention around children at busy times.

In other instances around citys the speed limit is completely unnecessarily 50, where there are no pedestrians / even houses in sight. These seem to be the most populated areas as far as cameras are concerned and where most people get their tickets because people want to go faster vwhere there are clealy no danger areas.

The worst is the motorway. I think we should take the autobahn philosophy, that recognises there is little or zilch difference in accident rates when speed limits are dropped. The outside lane, that is too often populated by cars going at 75 mph (4mph over the middle lane) should be illigal to anyone averaging less tha 100mph.

Stats always 'prove' that higher speeds kill, but where are the powerful ads that show that its poor driving at speed in unsuitable cars without due cause and attention make up the worst accidents?

They also forget that I get to my destination 30% faster than usual, which according to their clever stats means I'm off the road more for the same journey so only have 70% of the usual time in which to have an accident.

Don't forget to vote!!

How much over were you? Do they send you a speed reading?

Do they post a photo of yourself - like on an Alton Towers ride? Would look grand in a frame and almost make it worth while.

the sp30 was 50-ish mph (it was only a couple mph below the limit for a ban), on a dual carriageway (the main road in and out of Swansea for christ sake...no houses or pedestrian crossing near) which had been reduced to a 30zone literally a week before. Coincidentally they had the damn speed camera van there for about a month catching regular commuters out. Pricks.

Sp50 was on M6, I think i was doing about 70mph.

No photos, there maybe would have been if I querried them, but I didnt.

I've had this dubug mode about 5 times tonight. Is it usual for this forum or just problems for tonight?

Sigh of relief when I hit the back button after 20 minute composition and it was still there.

None for me, though back in 1996 I got banned for 148 mph on the M27. Got 0 points, hefty fine, and a 28 day ban. I got off lightly as the Police put a good word in for me as I stopped and waited for them to catch up (took them 10 minutes). Plus my employer helped...;)

I thought they'd clocked me and had given chase. They later admitted they did give chase but very slowly as they didn't expect me to stop lol :D

They loved the car though, back then Scoobs were rare and my Series McRae looked ace. Had a nice chat for an hour about racing and cars they've had. About 3 months later Winchester Constabulary bought 3 Impreza's as unmarked cars...
