Does the Williams 1 win because it was the original one, the 2 because it's the most available or 3 because of the extras?

I think the Williams 1 is the the most favoured, as it's the original and they were numbered.

The 2 looks better IMO, more rounded bumpers, etc.

but i feel 3 has the best paint code.

So..... i like bits with all 3 :)

all have unique features but if i had to choose it would have to be a 2, this is because its in the correct colour ( even tho i do love the 432  ) has no sunroof which would be a massive point for me, and it also comes with all the ph2 bits to make it look i little more modern :D

You'd rather not have a sunroof? How come? The sunroof is a major selling point to me!

when it leaks you'll hate it

yup they leak, and for track use tis a bit of a negative due to extra weight and reduction in rigidity of the roof skin.

Fair enough. I don't think I'm a track day kind of guy. More into driving around Yorkshire B roads in the open countryside, and on a red-hot day like today, sure is nice to have the blue sky above. : )

How much do leaks cost to fix? Never had a problem with my manual Mk1 roof but does the mechanics make it more susceptible?

To be honest most people seal them closed mate

Do they? It's an option. But I think people would rather fix it properly given the choice.

imo they dont? maybe as a temporary measure thats all

Do a search, most of the posts I have read end up with people sealing them as they leak again after trying to fix them....maybe I'm wrong though. I haven't got one so don't care anyway....

The original willy ftw. Lightest of the bunch, and a shiny gold plaque seals the deal for me :D

I've had 2 Mk1's with sunroof, neither leaked, though the second one whistled over 70 MPH, was annoying. My R5 GTT leaked though. You can get leaks through the hole for the aerial as well...

they get u as u go round the bend, like to take a piss right in your lap, it doesnt look too good when you get out. they can be fixed quite easily and it was either on here or C16V where they were doing a bulk buy for new sunroof seals

I like em all (very diplomatic col) but on the three if your gunna have a sunroof have a proper one , ie one you press a button an it slides back.....i know weight an not enough room ,but if you want one that is what you should have ,not one that just tilts or that you have to totally dismantle. :(

otherwise have a roof vent! :)

For collecting sake, probably a low mileage Williams with a gold plate.

But IMHO the Williams has yet to reach collector status, while OTOH it's still a very quick modern hot hatch. So, I would get any Williams in fine working fettle and drive the heck out of the car. And when it reaches collector status, I can fully refurb the car back to near factory condition and then drive it like a old lady :)

Willy 1 again for me - just because I was around when they first came out and knew how special those forst 400 cars were...

Some like the 2 because of the minor styling modifictions and they tend to be cheaper, some like the 3 because of the colour and equipment...

Most peeps on here have their favourites, really though you should buy the best car you can afford, rather than whether it is a 1,2 or 3.

All 3 in an ideal world

Williams 1 for cherishing and dry storing and taking to car shows
Williams 2 to modify and strip and make into a track beast
Williams 3 for everyday car

If only I had the money eh... :(

Williams! Also biased though!

Sunroofs are Shit, I spent so much time tryin to stop the one one my RT leaking and it never really stopped. When it didn't leak, it rattled! They look much smoother without i think. All that fuss just for some sky just isnt worth it.

Gold plaque FTW, As with the retro grill and strips. Its a retro car after all. I kind of wish mine had winddown windows and a manual rack for ultimate simplicity to be honest

And forget ABS too. Its for foot heavy chumps
