Hi all,

Have just done a compression test on my F7P (135k on the clock)

Results as follows:

Dry WOT

1 - 100psi (gearbox end)
2 - 100psi
3 - 100psi
4 - 90psi

Wet WOT (small amount of oil in cylinder) :

All cylinders - 125psi

So looks to me like my piston rings are worn :(

The engine doesn't appear to be burning any oil so how long do you think shes got left in her and how much will this have affected my performance?

Thanks,
Lee.

Most healthy valver lumps ive seen have always been 150-200.

So your probably losing a chunk of power, past its best anyway.

looks more like your valves need to be reseated and then do the rings while the head is off

This mans got it :)

The valves themselves will also likely need re-facing, as they go con-caved over time. Plus have the seats re-caut, then lap them in.

Hmmmm, im tempted to get a new lump to rebuild myself as ive always wanted to have a go at doing it, then just run this lump till it finally gives up

Cheers all.

Ive got a 1.8 F7P Clio Cup race car engine for sale.
Was rebuilt a couple of years ago, and done about 500miles in that time--its been out of the car for 18months.
These were 150bhp when the left the RenaultSport factory.

£350 if your intrested.
