Yes ive put a f3p engine into a r5 gtt ......handy if you can lay your hand on "gtx" parts ie ,front engine mount, alternator carrier, engine bay wiring harness etc, youll be surprised how easy things go in and the room youll have. Incase you ask ,its turboed.

its on "cars for sale" on the forum :)

You say 16v rsi......i thought they were 8v?.......unless youve got the f7p 16v engine... :?

I was under the impression that the 16v was an RSi still?? Is that not right col? I already hav an 8v RSi but hav bought a 16v engine to put in a r5 (RSi or not, its out a mk1 clio!)

There is a 8v and 16v 1.8. The 16v 1.8 is from the widebodied 'valver', the 8v is the RSi version. I belive the 1.8 8v was used in the Bacarra luxury spec clio as well.

Well i reckon youve either got a 1764cc f7p 16v.......or a williams whats it say on the engine plate by fly wheel........or is their anything stamped into block? .

Did you look at my car on the forum Josh? anything similar.

He has a 16v engine. This came from the clio 16v or the renault 19 16v. Yes it will fit into a renault 5 shell. Winston has a williams engine in a renault 5.

Cool, any help would be good tar. I'l lok for the code on the engine, not sure atm, because im at work, prity sure its not the williams 1.8 16v. I got it of a mate who was orrigionally gona put it in his 1.4 Rt.

Yeh col, i took a look at your r5, its looks sweet mate, proper nice, bet it goes like a rocket dont it? I might have considered buying it but really not got the money atm. It still for sale?

Yeh i knew Winston has one, I already talked to him on the 16valver forum about it. I joined this forum only the other week to buy an exhaust of a member, so just thought I'd put the same question to you all see what help I could get?

Not good then! Will that take you long? Have you got a mechanical back ground then? I've not got a clue when it comes to engines if I'm being honest, just always been interested in doin a conversion, and a mate had this engine so thouight I'd go for it.

Just askin for help cus not really sure where to start! Lol.

The 1.8 8v was a different engine in the baccarra to the RSi, it was a single point injection like the rare 1.8 RT.

...prity sure its not the williams 1.8 16v....

The Williams has a 2.0L 16v F7R engine, not 1.8.

Right Josh, its not rocket science to drop one in,as long as youve got the right tools .

the gtx (1721cc) fitted it as standard also the "monaco"god that even had leather trim, you might consider the brakes and suspension also.

Have you considered the Monaco theyve been cheap as chips on e bay etc.......what im trying to say is if youve never done it before keep it simple. If you go the 16v route you will need the engine wiring harness fuel injection pump, ecu.

How much of the 16v have you got (bits that is)

Everything I need I think, was told by a friend whos done a Golf GTi conversion to make sure it came with certan bits, especially the wireing loom. Its deffinatly got the gear box, ecu and wireing loom, not sure about the fuel injection pump! But I'll find out asap.

Was going to carefully strip it all down and clean it all first, put new hoses and up-rated clutch from a 5GTT on it? And some individual throttal bodies. As far as the car goes I was just going to go scrap yard and find the best Campus I could, and worry about making it look nice when I've done the engine?

Brakes and suspension, I hadn't really given to much thought, apart from I know I'll have to put some desent breaks on it because they work and look better and I was planning on lowering it anyway?

Its definatly the F7p, and it dosn't come with the fuel injection pump!

A fuel pumps no biggy, scrappy or on this forum should get one cheap enough.......saw a runner on "pistonheads" devon..tax mot £350...so cheap motors about.

hate to disappoint you but if you plan to drop an f7p (1,8 16v) engine into your 5... it ain't gonna be easy.
1st: engine mount (only from R5 gtx or gte or 1,6 diesel) + alternator brackets + alternator belt 810-820 mm 6 ribs
2nd: i think the driveshafts from your 1,4 won't fit... not 100% sute though

this is what you need to drop it in... - the easyest part :)

you won't have enough room for the radiator.. you'll need to cut away some steel

the wireing loom is kind of bitchy but it takes time and autodata :)

and some other things but i don't remember right now

I modified the 16v bracket to fit,an also modified the power steering bracket.....an i think you have to re drill the front gearbox mounting poin t to get it sitting right..........alternator belt off a pug ,ive numbers somewhere.

I have a R5 GTE fitted with a F7p i used the original engine and gearbox mounts (121cc 8v )
only modified the engine frame so that the radiator sits lower.
