Remove everything. Drop subframe and engine to floor. Lift car over engine.

I have seen a pic somewhere, maxi rally car. Engine sitting on the subframe, which is on the floor, car held up by an engine crane from the cross member of the shell and a guy changing the cam belt working under the car.

As said earlier uncouple all cables, pipes to the engine, abs cables and calipers cos they snag on lowering, remove rad and fan for clearance, steering column from rack, subframe bolts, lastly shock tops and mounts when you have engine suspended by engine crane, lower to ground and raise the car over engine. Or - as i did get someone who has done it till he can do it in his sleep - my mate - simoncliodimma - we had engine out, gearbox off and subframe, wheels etc back on car in 2.5 hours (before you ask - so we could keep it mobile before new box goes on) If you need any help contact simon i'm sure he'll help.
